Elan is a Dachshund who had severe paralysis. Chances of recovery from this type of paralysis is infrequent (less than 20% regain rear limb sensitivity… even fewer regain ability to walk.) Elan received rehabilitation at Family Veterinary Hospital of Stone Ridge by Dr. Hanh Chau (a veterinarian, and Licensed Acupuncturist and Rehabilitation Therapist.) In this video, Elan is undergoing underwater treadmill therapy in water that is approximately 86 degrees. Elan is also shown using a therapy cart which allows him mobility without use of his back limbs. Finally at the end of the video is a home movie taken by Elan’s owners who continued rehabilitation exercises and acupressure at acupuncture points shown to them by Dr. Chau. The results are surprising at the end.
